2019 Vintage Note

Miljenko's Selection Petite Sirah

The Wine
Our Petite Sirah begins with aromas of rich cassis, black cherry, blackberry, and hints of sage, dark chocolate, tobacco and lilac. The wine exhibits flavors of cherries, blackberries and cocoa, with a touch of soft vanilla and Earl Grey tea. The finish is rich and smooth with layers of fruit and along and lingering finish.

Vintage
Napa Valley experienced an above-average rainfall in the early months of 2019 with over fifty inches of rain in Rutherford. The residual moisture and colder than average soils led to a delayed start in budbreak. Spring and summer enjoyed moderate temperatures with no significant heat spikes until August. The harvest began in early September and finished the first week of November.

Vineyard
The grapes for this wine were grown at Miljenko’s Vineyard, a 34-acre parcel of land north of Calistoga overlooked by Miljenko “Mike” Grgich’s home. This sunny and well-drained hillside is the perfect site to grow intensely flavored Petite Sirah. We farm all of our certified organic vineyards naturally, using the principles of regenerative agriculture.
