Nestled in our American Canyon Vineyard, two small blocks of vines grow side by side. Our Riesling and Gewürztraminer are constant companions, enduring the cold of winter, delighting in the revelry of the summer sun, standing strong together through flood and drought alike.
On their own, each of these varietals exhibit an elegant acidic and mineral flavors, with subtle notes of sweetness not yet fully realized. It takes a perfect storm of conditions for the grapes to develop botrytis, allowing for the latent sweetness lying dormant to be drawn out. In ideal years such as these, our Gewürztraminer and Riesling are wed to each other in the bottle – a perfect marriage that results in Violetta, the sweetest of rewards.
