The Wine
This beautiful Miljenko's Selection Riesling is refreshingly vibrant with a hue of golden straw and abounding aromas of ripe grapefruit, candied lemon, and mandarin wafting from the glass. A soft, creamy front palate leads to a rich mid-palate of bright yellow citrus, lime, and a hint of gooseberry, with spicy undertones of fresh clove and cardamom. Lively minerality accompanies a fresh, complex, and lasting finish.
Vintage
The 2020 growing season was slightly cooler than the previous year and brought very little rainfall. Harvest season began about two weeks early, due to the resulting dry soil.
Two major heat waves occurred, but our well conditioned vines were able to withstand the heat and prevent any damage to the grapes. We began harvest the third week of August and brought in a small crop of exceptional quality.
Vineyard
Our Riesling is crafted with grapes sourced from our American Canyon vineyard, located in the southern tip of Napa Valley near San Francisco Bay. The cool climate and stronger winds delay ripening and ensure excellent acidity, yielding a crisp and lively wine. The clay soil retains water, giving us the ability to dry-farm them and yielding higher quality, concentrated fruit. These factors create an elegant, aromatic wine that is impossible to achieve in warmer areas. We farm all our vineyards naturally, using the principles of regenerative agriculture, and they are certified organic.
