HONORING A LEGEND
Miljenko “Mike” Grgich
April 1st, 1923 – December 13th, 2023
Celebrate with us! In honor of Mike’s birthday, we’re extending up to 20% off (25% for members!) on current release Miljenko’s Selection and Legacy Tier wines.
Miljenko “Mike” Grgich was born in the small village of Desne, Croatia in 1923. With a lifelong passion for winemaking, he escaped communist Yugoslavia, and made his way to California. He first gained international recognition winning the celebrated “Paris Tasting” of 1976. In a blind tasting, his 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay wowed French judges and took 1st place. Just a year later, Mike joined forces with Austin Hills in 1977 to form Grgich Hills Cellar.
In his 100 esteemed years, Mike built a lasting legacy of excellence, and his wines are a shining example of this legacy.

THE KEYSTONE SELECTION
Over 100 years of winemaking expertise are on display in this unique selection of wines, each representing a vital moment in the life of Mike Grgich.

2020 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
Struck by the beauty of the land George Yount initially described as “Paradise,” Mike Grgich purchased a slice of his own – a block planted in 1959 that would become some of the oldest and most venerable Cabernet Sauvignon vines in Napa Valley. Today, this vineyard makes up the heart of our award-winning estate Cabernet Sauvignon.

2022 Chardonnay, Napa Valley
In arguably the most important moment in winemaking history, the 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay crafted by Mike took first place in the historic Judgement of Paris, catapulting Napa Valley to the forefront of the winemaking world. We continue to create our Chardonnay in the same style, ensuring balanced acidity, suppleness, and body characterize this one-of-a-kind Chardonnay.
